Chiropractic care focuses on joint manipulation but also can include adjunct therapies to help improve musculoskeletal conditions. Massage is not the same as an adjustment but is sometimes recommended in addition to adjustments to reduce pain and muscle tension.
At Aha! Chiropractic, the doctor may include brief massage, using deep tissue and/or trigger point techniques. Massage enhanced treatments may involve manual work on the soft tissues of the neck, back or extremities. A percussion massage instrument may also be utilized. Sometimes a pain relieving lotion may be applied as well. When there is need for more extensive muscle work, patients may be referred to a massage therapist.
